South Korea’s Hyundai is the largest car manufacturer in the country and the sixth largest in the world. In Korean, the word “hyundai” means “modernity”. Its logo is a slanted H designed to look like two people shaking hands, whihc represenents the customer an dthe company. The Hyundai Excel became the first Hyundai car to reach the US market in 1986 and earned the company a record sales of almost 125,000 during its first year. But because the company was bringing down costs, its reliability suffered and the Hyundai Excel lost its popularity sooner than they expected. Hyundai invested heavily on durability, quality, and design over the next few decades their quality and sales improved – as did their reputation. Today, they are one of the dominant manufacturers in one of the most lucrative markets in the world.
