Buying a vintage car?

Have you ever thought of buying a vintage car of your own? If so, then the 1965 Pontiac Bonneville might interest you. It is a large car (its size was common in the 1960’s), and weighs approximately around 3,900 lbs.

Now, you ask, what so good about this car? The weight of the car plus the size, plus the length and width of it, prevents it to topple and spin if the car is to be involved in an accident. The car also has a low center of gravity and so, it is said to be stable. Not only that: if you acquire this car, you won’t only get these benefits, but also that of the stares of the people around you.

How To Make Stolen Cars Disappear: Replace Everything

19.jpg

Police in Dubai have arrested a group of “high tech” car thieves who had them baffled for quite some time. The problem was that the stolen cars seemed to disappear completely. Once the cars were stolen, they were never turning up again anywhere. The trick, apparently, was that the thieves had bought previously totaled cars of the same model abroad. Then, they swapped out the car’s computer systems and any identifying information with the totaled cars. Then, the cars had every appearance of being the cars that had been bought from abroad, rather than the ones that were stolen

Hard Working Brake Fluid

brakesLike many of the fluids used in cars, brake fluid is quite corrosive which makes it dangerous if ingested by people. Brake fluid has changed little in the many years since it was introduced and is actually hydraulic fluid that has been designed to change little with extreme pressure and heat which turns it very hot without losing its abilities. Use regular oil and it’ll surely burn and either congeal or thin out losing its ability to compress properly to operate the pistons of the brake. It also has a lot of corrosive additives that allows it to dislodge rust and other contaminants, trapping it within the fluid to maintain proper consistency even when under pressure as the brake is applied. Want to know a sure way to ruin your car’s finish, spill brake fluid onto it and it’ll surely find the smallest holes in the protective clear coat causing paint to peel as if stripping agent was used. That is why the manual says you should wipe up any spilled fluid immediately, even washing it with shampoo and water to prevent damage to the car’s finish.
There are instances when you go to service when the service personnel would find water in the brake lines which happens naturally as contaminants enters the system say when driving through a flooded street. Water, air, dust and rust can take away the effectiveness of brake fluid making the brakes feel sluggish or even cause total failure of the system so keep your braking system in top form with regular inspection and maintenance at each and every oil change. Your life literally depends on it!

Won’t Start ?

Everybody who drives a car knows that turning the engine and not getting it to run is enough to ruin your day. Hold your horses for there are a few things you can check assuming you know your way around the engine (even if you don’t, “You can do it!”) and know the basic parts. First thing you do, is there electrical power in the car, a quick flip of the interior lights would indicate that there is indeed power coming from the battery. If no lights come on, pop the hood and wiggle the battery terminals for they might simply be loose. Next, is that power enough to kick the starter and thus start the engine? Turn on the headlights and see if they are as bright as they should be (give a couple of bursts with the horn to add load to the battery). If they are dim, then you have a dead battery that is easy as a phone call to the nearest batter center for a quick change. A quick boost from the battery of another car may do the trick but be sure you know how to do it for if not, you risk damaging both your car’s electrical components. Quick Tip: To save you all the trouble – If you don’t have a clue what I’ve just said, call for a mechanic!

Brake Warning Light is Lit

There are a few reasons why the brake warning remains lit. It can simply be a minor problem, and sometimes the underlying reason can be a big braking system trouble. Firstly, if the light is turned on even when you’re already starting to move, you may have forgotten to release the hand break lever. The emergency parking brake is there to remind you that the system is engaged. But if you have released the lever and the brake warning light remains lit, there must be something wrong worst than just forgetting the lever. It may mean that you have a critical amount of brake fluid left in the master cylinder and that you should refill it with brake fluid immediately. IF it still persists, there might be a leak within your braking system, professional help from a technician is needed.

The 2009 Ford Focus

The first thing that comes into mind when you hear “American Cars” are those engine roaring, gas gulping American muscle cars. Cars made legend by the Mustang, Camaro, and the Corvette just to name a few. They rely on their “Big Block” engines to generate tremendous amounts of horsepower. But in recent times the makers of these cars are gearing to a more conservative stance. Fuel economy is their main concern. With the soaring price of gas they have followed the path of imported cars, namely Japanese cars. Even though this is the case you can be rest assured that American cars will still posses the power that these cars have been known how to have.

One example is the 2009 Ford Focus, a 2.0L-4 cylinder compact car that produces 140 hp in sedans and 143 hp in coupes. It has an EPA rating of 28 mpg combined. It comes as a 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan. Both body styles offer a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
